Why am I getting emails from the DSPS Accessible Information Management (AIM) system?

DSPS has moved to an online accommodation management system known as AIM to increase confidentiality for students and ease faculty access to student accommodation requests that are sent via the Butte College email notification system.

Can’t you send me the information for all students at the beginning of the semester instead of sending the notices all semester long (shouldn’t students know in the first two weeks they need an accommodation?)?

Unfortunately, not every student knows they are eligible for accommodations at the beginning of each semester and they are entitled to request accommodations at any time throughout the semester with reasonable advanced notice (once DSPS deems a student eligible students send faculty a DSPS AIM notification that lists the authorized accommodation that is being requested).

Do I have to let students take their test in the DSPS office (what if I want them to take their tests in the classroom?)?

Students are required to speak with their Instructors to regarding their preferred test taking location (faculty who are unable to proctor student accommodated exams must identify the student’s preferred alternative location i.e. DSPS, Center for Academic Success, etc. and indicate this on the AIM alternative testing agreement).

How do I know that the student isn’t being given help or materials that I didn’t authorized students to use on their exams, like open notes etc.?

To ensure such issue don’t arise, Instructors are required to complete the AIM alternative testing agreement which includes a series of questions regarding exam time, authorized materials, etc.
